'Der Baader-Meinhof Komplex'
Quite a challenging, unsettling film and one that forces the viewer to confront their attitudes toward the concept of terrorism - or at least, for my own part, insofar as it has been constructed in the consciousness of my generation in England. Some may find it an affront to their politics; I found that I had to watch it with a certain amount of detachment. Nonetheless it's a fine film in many ways, not an easy one however, and following on from the likes of 'The Lives of Others' and 'Downfall' it represents another step in the steady advance of German cinema which has impressed me greatly of late.
