Well, this isn't all the story so far, but a collage of small sections representative of it. One that you can't read. I know, what's the point of it? I don't know myself. Sort of satisfying though. Look! I am actually getting things done!
I'm very pleased with how it's going. One thing I've realised is that you can think and plan all you like, but it's only when you're really in the process of writing it that the story blossoms. There's not a buzz in the world like it.
As you might be able to tell from that series of screenshots, I've set the page layout up as close as I can to that of a "real book" - this helps me psychologically, as weird as that sounds, to feel more like I'm writing "a real book". Laugh it up, I deserve it, but it works for me. It also gives me a better idea of pace and structure.
I wish I could post up an extract. I really do. Soon come.
I can almost make out the opening sentence. It says something like "The Gully gauge high all around them". That doesn't make sense, Alex.
ReplyDeleteGlad you rate the natural writing process rather than excessive planning. The art is in the unravelling etc etc.
Upload slightly better quality screenshot...

ReplyDeleteman, that picture is annoyingly sized
ReplyDeletegood to read about your enthusiasm though. it is indeed all about what happens when you're actually writing. planning is purely skeleton.
